What makes you think that you are on the narrow path?

Do you really think the narrow path that leads to salvation, that Jesus said few would find, is all about controlling your language? “I am on the narrow path because I don’t use profanity.” That’s moronic. You don’t use profanity on the narrow path, but the narrow path is not about controlling your language.

What about having a beer? “I am on the narrow path because I abstain (church-word) from alcohol.” No, goofball. You don’t drink alcohol on the narrow path. It doesn’t mean that you can’t but if you do or don’t, the narrow path that leads to salvation has little to do with what goes into your mouth, and a lot more with what comes out.

Righteousness is relational. The narrow path is reserved for those who share Jesus’ love and compassion with others. Those who feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick and imprisoned, give drink to the thirsty…

If your righteousness is defined by all the vices you “gave up” to follow Jesus, read the text again. Purity and self-control are evidence of the Holy Spirit, but they are not good works. We are saved to be salt and light in our world. If you ever answered an invitation and prayed the sinners prayer to be a Christian, and no one ever taught you that following Jesus means serving others, it’s time to get out of the boat.

So many of us got baptized and went on like that was it. Go back and read what Jesus did after He was baptized.

That’s the narrow road.
